SEMA speed: Hennessey Viper Venom 800R
Updated with Frank's live pics
Why worry about superchargers and turbochargers when you've got good old-fashioned cubic inches? After all, bigger is better right?
Living up to its VenomAero and Daytona spoiler-equipped body kit, the Hennessey Viper Venom 800R packs an amazing 585 naturally aspirated cubic inches under the bright yellow bonnet. After 12 weeks of Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) mojo, the nearly 10-liter monster belches out 810 bhp and 810 lb/ft of torque. Gulping air and fuel at a rate sure to satisfy an F16 in full afterburner, the 800R is capable of 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.88 @135 mph on its way up to a reported top speed of over 230 mph.
How fitting is it that this monster will officially debut on the Dupont stand at 10AM on Halloween as a part of the SEMA show in Las Vegas?

Although the huge high wing looks a bit over the top, the whole aero kit makes the Viper look purposeful and mean.
John Hennessey himself got inside and fired it up so we could hear what all that horsepower sounded like in the Venom.
He clearly enjoys his work at least as much as we enjoy the results.

Bigger is heavier and less nimble.
Good for the straights...

Ok, seriously, Hennessey gets more bad "press" on the internet than even sony, Yet when Joystiq posts a blog entry on sony, they rip into them and then when autoblog posts a entry on hennessey it has none of the negative overtones that it should... (this is where the whole "joystiq is biased" flames come from, cause they are)end rant...
anyway hennessey is a fraud, we all know it. I dont even care to read the "press release" because its nothing but a joke!

I agree with #5. He's a fraud and I'm amazed that he's still in business. If it was from any other viper tuner I'd be excited and impressed, but since it's Hennessey I don't even care.

And I'm still convinced the Viper screams "I HAVE NO PENIS"

#9- So what does a Ferrari Enzo or Ford GT, or Lambo Gallardo, etc scream? You are a jackass and your comment screams "I'm jealous and have no money"

No, no. I'm with Steve here. The enzo et al at least have the pretention to be sports car. Lean and mean. Not heavy with 10L of displacement.
They managed to turn a slightly ugly sports car into a heavy disgustingly ugly monster.
And it's pretty clear that Viper owners have no penis.

Funny, #10 seems to be correct. Before you pile on the viper for being heavy, etc. the Viper weighs 3450 lbs, the Ford GT weighs 3520, Lamborghini Gallardo is 3520, and a Porsche 911 Turbo S is 3494. As
far as this car being heavier, it may actually be lighter. To gain displacement they bore out the cylinder to create volume. The engine
doesn't actually get bigger and overly heavy.
I think that Hennessey is probably a fraud (don't know personally) but it is a nice looking car that is extremely fast.
And I am sure your Camry tells the world that you have a big penis.

Steve...maybe you're just a little gay if you think about a man's penis when you see his car. (not that there's anything wrong with it)

Is it big ? Is it fast ? 9,5 liters, 810 horsepower, is it the ultimate power ?
How is the biggest engine for a normaly streetcar ?
Maybe AC Cobra from Weineck germany ?
www.weineck.de
Facts: 16 liters, 1600 horsepower and as 4000 Nm (2954 Ib ft) as torque.
How fast ? 0-60 mls in 1,4 seconds and top speed of 267 mph. It doesn`t get any bigger engine for a car !
